A completed nomination form procured from the American Basketball Hall of Fame (hereafter ABHOF) shall be submitted to the President and CEO of the AHOF by December 31.
ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible for Induction into the American Basketball Hall of Fame:
Player: A player must be fully retired for four full seasons before being eligible for Induction. He/she may then be considered for Induction in the fifth year of retirement. Should a player come out of retirement for a short period of time, as defined by the ABHOF, his/her case and eligibility for Enshrinement shall be reviewed on an individual basis
Coach: A coach must be either fully retired for four full seasons or, if still an active coach, have coached as either a full-time assistant or head coach on the high school and/or college and/or professional level for a minimum of 15 years.
Referee: A referee must be fully retired for four full seasons or, if still an active referee, have been an active referee for a minimum of 15 years.
Contributor: A person is eligible for Induction as a contributor at any time for significant contributions to the game of basketball. What constitutes a "significant contribution" shall be determined by the ABHOF, its Basketball Committee, and the Contributor Basketball Committee.
Induction Ceremony: The American Basketball Hall of Fame will host its induction American Basketball Hall of Fame Weekend each September of every year.
Nominees: 30 nominees will be chosen for nomination for the American Basketball Hall of Fame in April of each year. 6-8 from the field of players, coaches, teams, and contributors, will be selected and the finalists will be named every June of every year.
